٣٩ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى وَهَبَ لِى عَلَى ٱلْكِبَرِ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّى لَسَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ
رَبِّ ٱجْعَلْنِى مُقِيمَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِى ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَآءِ
“Our Lord!” Make me and the people who believe in my heirs always pray. Dear Lord! Please accept my prayers. Dear Lord! Please forgive me, my parents, and all Christians on the Day of Judgment. 14:40–41 of the Quran
This dua was something Prophet Ibrahim would ask Allah to help his children and grandchildren pray continuously and to forgive his parents and all believers on the Day of Judgment. 1. This is a prayer that all Muslims can say for their families and the whole community, or ummah.
ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍۢ وَٱجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا“
Dear Lord! God, please give us good wives and children who will make us happy and show others how to be good. (25:74 in the Quran)

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةًۭ طَيِّبَةً ۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ ٱلدُّعَآءِ ٣
“Our Lord!” By your grace, give me good children. “There’s no doubt that you hear all prayers.” (3:38 in the Quran)
If you want to grow your family, the following dua is very good for you. Zakariyya asked Allah for a good child without thinking about how old he was, and Allah gave him just that.
رَبِّ ٱبْنِ لِى عِندَكَ بَيْتًۭا فِى ٱلْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِى مِن فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِهِۦ وَنَجِّنِى مِنَ
“Our Lord!” Make me a home in Paradise close to you, save me from Pharaoh and his bad actions, and keep me away from people who do bad things. (66:11 in the Quran)
During her husband’s suffering, Asiyah, the wife of the Pharaoh of Egypt, converted to Islam and said this prayer. Asiyah saw her house in Paradise as she died because Allah gave it to her. Muslims can still say this prayer to ask Allah to take them to Paradise and protect them from being mistreated and abused.
فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِىِّۦ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ ۖ تَوَفَّنِى مُسْلِمًۭا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ
“[O] Creator of the sky and the ground! You will be my guardian in this world and the next. Let me die as a Muslim who agrees to obey, and put me with the good people.” (The Quran 12:101)
Prophet Yusuf said this prayer after becoming a leader and getting back together with his family. He asked Allah for a good finish despite having what he wanted. Yusuf starts his dua by calling on Allah as the One who made everything. He then asks his lord to let him die as a Muslim in obedience to Him and let him go to Paradise.
لَّآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
“There is no other god worth worshiping besides You.” Praise be to You! I’ve done something wrong.” 21:87 in the Quran.
This prayer to turn away from sins comes from Prophet Yunus. When he tried to convert his community to Islam, they turned him down, so he left without Allah’s permission to carry out his task. He finally got to the bottom of a whale, where Yunus said this prayer for forgiveness in which he admitted that everything belongs to Allah’s Oneness. It worked! People can pray to Him with these words to honestly ask for forgiveness, not just once, but over and over again, because there will be times when we need it more than anything else.
رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ
“Oh, Lord! Don’t let our hearts wander after you’ve led us. Please be kind to us. “You are, in fact, the Giver of all good things.” 3:8 in the Quran
We learned from the Prophet (PBUH) that religion changes over time. It goes up and down, making waves. God puts us through some tests and trials to return us to him. We should check our Imaan level daily and work on it from there.
جَآءَتْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَآ أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًۭا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
“Oh, Lord! Give us patience, and let us die while still following You as Muslims.” (7:126 in the Quran)
When the Pharaoh tested Musa with a group of witches, Musa beat them and led them to Islam. This dua was said by the sorcerers when they were being harmed. In this verse, they ask Allah to help them stay strong any time things get hard and to keep believing even after they die.
رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ جَامِعُ ٱلنَّاسِ لِيَوْمٍ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ
“Oh, Lord! Take this from us. You really are the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (2:127 in the Quran)
